Overview

We are currently seeking DevOps Engineer to support deployment and sustainment activities for A40 department at Naval Surface Warfare Center. 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Advise on design and implementation of a software & network infrastructure software development environment that deploys physical and virtual machines
  • Evaluate proposed hardware network infrastructure changes across any/all system and network requirements (e.g. deployment, integration, configure, upgrade, patch, physical vs. virtual, etc). Consider the organization’s entire IT infrastructure when making changes and improvements
  • Guide organization in designing, building, testing and deploying changes to existing software
  • Implement cloud development environment such as Amazon Web Service or other virtual hosting services to support software development tools and continuous integration/continuous deployment pipeline.
  • Automate manual processes in regards to software development life cycle
  • Automate software build and test pipeline to support development and distribution of software artifacts
  • Define tools needed for cloud based data repositories and Configuration Management of the Software Development Program.
  • Conduct daily system checks
  • Support code deployments to Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS)
  • Perform CI/CD pipeline patching, upgrades, and vulnerability scans, including Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) scans
  • Capture new processes and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Manage GitLab groups
  • Implement Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Will be 100% onsite at NSWC Dahlgren
  • Must be able to provide occasional, off-hours (e.g. evening) support

Equipment Used:

  • Desktop systems across multiple security domains

Typical Working Conditions:

  • General office environment with USG provided NMCI Computer and peripheral equipment
  • TEA Corporate laptop will be provided at the discretion of Executive Management

Essential Physical Tasks:

  • Ability to lift 10 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Possibility of Domestic travel up to 10% of the time by automobile, air, etc.
  • Ability to use a personal computer, keyboard and mouse on a consistent basis.

Written Communications:

  • Operates standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively with a high degree of competency.
  • Independently generates documentation that presents information in a logical manner.

Verbal Communications:

  • Demonstrates excellent clear and concise verbal communication skills.
  • Active communicator - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate.

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years' experience supporting code deployments to a cloud environment
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
  • Must be proficient in Windows OS
  • Must have active Security+ certification

Preferred:

  • Experience working with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kubernetes (ELK) stacks
  • Advanced AWS certifications (e.g. DevOps Engineer Professional, Solutions Architect Professional)
  • Elasticsearch and Kibana certifications
  • Kubernetes Administrator certification
  • CompTIA CASP or CISSP certification

Customer Interface Activities:

  • Uses independent discretion to develop an effective client to customer communication process involving stakeholder identification, planned communication, efficient information distribution, and managing expectations.

Work Schedule:  Std 40 

 

Travel <10%

 

Minimum Education Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, EE, ME, IE, Physics or related discipline

 

Required Certifications:

DevOps Certification

 

U.S. Citizenship is required

 

Security Clearance:

 

Candidates must have an active Top Secret clearance.
