Overview

We are currently seeking a Navy Training System Scenario Developer to join our team! The successful candidate will provide support to the Surface Combat Systems Training Center (SCSTC) in the development of training scenarios for use aboard shipboard systems. This position is located in Dahlgren, VA.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Develop multi-threat, multi-war force scenarios in AEGIS Combat Training System (ACTS), Battle Force Tactical Training (BFTT) and Advanced Training Domain (ATD) for use aboard shipboard systems
  • Collaborate with other scenario development teams to include ACTS and BFTT
  • Participate in scenario development meetings relating to ATD scenario tasking
  • Interface with customers, management, and employees

Equipment Used:

  • Standard computer equipment and Naval Combat Systems
  • Simulation Stimulation (SIM/STIM) systems.

Typical Working Conditions:

  • General office environment
  • Computer/Equipment lab  

Essential Physical Tasks:

  • Ability to lift <20 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods of time, using a personal computer, keyboard and mouse on a consistent basis. 

Written Communications:

  • Possesses solid writing skills and the ability to develop mid-level informational briefs, point papers,  Test Observation Reports (TORs), and lessons learned as required.
  • Provides technical status, project updates and issue identification input to Weekly and Monthly Status Reports (WAR/MSR).   

Verbal Communications:

  • Demonstrates excellent, clear and concise verbal communication skills.
  • Active communicator, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate.   

Qualifications

Skills / Qualifications: 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have an Active Secret Security Clearance
  • High School Diploma
  • Must have 4 years of combat system shipboard experience on board an AEGIS or SSDS platforms
  • Must have 2 years of experience developing multi-threat, multi-war force scenarios
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Have attention to detail, a care about the quality of work, and a drive for results
  • Must have organizational, task tracking, and follow up skills 

Customer Interface Activities:

  • Supports the Government customer as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) during technical discussions, forums, and other program activities.
  • Directly interfaces and coordinates with various Government organizations and U.S. Navy Sailors in Tactical Course development. 

Work Schedule:

  • Standard 40 
  • The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.

Travel:

  • Potential domestic travel <10% of the time by automobile

Minimum Education Requirements: 

  • High School diploma or GED

U.S. Citizenship is required

 

Security Clearance:

Candidates must have an active clearance OR  the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
