Overview

We are currently seeking a Computer Enginner to support Combat System Operating Systems to support the maintenance, sustainment, and trouble shooting of the Aegis Combat Systems, Ship Self-Defense System, and Cooperative Engagement Capability prior to and during test events.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Maintaining computer networks including local router management, VPNs, routers and other physical hardware.
  • Installing and configuring network equipment
  • Develop strategy in defining, isolating, and analyzing C4I Interoperability Issues. Use resultant data to develop, propose, and/or implement solutions to these issues
  • Apply engineering expertise in technical and supervisory disciplines related to communications systems, software engineering, and system level design. Ability to research and procure hardware and software licenses in support of testing requirements.
  • Creating firewalls and updating virus protection software and data security systems to keep data and communications protected
  • Monitoring computer systems to improve network performance for all systems Troubleshooting, resolving, and communicating networking issues
  • Manage and maintain a library of network engineering tools, and corresponding processes that can be used for system testing and diagnosis of network-related system issues
  • Apply leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts to the development, maintenance, and implementation of network engineering standards, procedures, and guidelines
  • Maintaining current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems

Equipment Used:

  • Computer/Equipment lab, various electronic test equipment.

Typical Working Conditions:

  • General office environment;
  • Computer/Equipment lab

Essential Physical Tasks:

  • Ability to lift 10 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Potential domestic travel less than 10% of the time by automobile, air, etc.
  • Ability to use a personal computer, keyboard and mouse on a consistent basis.

Written Communications:

  • Operates standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively with a high degree of competency.

Verbal Communications:

  • Demonstrates excellent clear and concise verbal communication skills.
  • Active communicator - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate.

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Requires 3-8 years experience with implementation and understanding of Network Engineering principles in a professional environment.
  • Requires 3-8 years experience in the development, implementation, and maintenance of network architectures.

Work Schedule:   

  • 9/80
  • Ability to work within company and customer schedule requirements which may vary depending on criticality and necessity of a given task.

Travel: Up to 10%


Minimum Education Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering or similar

 

Certifications:

IAT Level 2 (CompTIA Security + and LINUX+)

  

 

Pay Range: $85,000.00 to $95,000.00 annually, DOE

 

U.S. Citizenship is required

 

Security Clearance:

Candidates must have an active clearance OR  the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
