Overview

We are currently seeking a candidate for a Software Test Engineer/Specialist position with experience testing and recording issues as observed during testing. Prior experience in the Mission Assurance Decision System Support (MADSS) project is a plus. Experience in test automation, particularly TestCafe Studio, Selenium, Cucumber, and other similar tools.  Additionally, having the ability to understand JavaScript, with the ability to write JavaScript highly preferred.  Additional preferred skills are a knowledge of C#, Ruby, and SQL.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Develops detailed (step-by-step) test descriptions/procedures, test plans and/or test reports.
  • Set up the required test beds (hardware, software and network), create or assist in creating assigned test automation, and test required software releases by executing assigned tests (manual and/or automated).
  • Records bugs/issues during tests and drafts required issue documentation.
  • Participates in technical peer reviews and design reviews for software changes to code base.
  • Provides engineering expertise to support designing and presenting of software changes to correct defects.
  • Interfaces with software coders and/or System Engineers responsible for written requirements.
  • Supports development of test cases, maintaining source code for test tools, executing test cases, and reviewing test results.
  • Conducts research and investigates Problem Reports (PRs) to correct defects.
  • Troubleshoot failed automated tests
  • Contribute to work item development (especially testing criteria)
  • Learn and utilize project technologies for in depth error root cause analysis (e.g. RMQ)

Equipment Used:

  • Laptop Computer and peripheral equipment

Typical Working Conditions:

  • General office environment with USG provided NMCI or RDTE Computer and peripheral equipment
  • Working in secure space that prohibits outside electronics
  • TEA Corporate laptop will be provided at the discretion of Executive Management

Essential Physical Tasks:

  • Ability to lift 10 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to use a personal computer, keyboard and mouse on a consistent basis

Written and Verbal Communications:

  • Operates standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively with a high degree of competency.
  • Independently generates documentation that presents information in a logical manner.
  • Written documentation includes, but is not limited to test procedures, test reports and test/analysis observations.
  • Demonstrates excellent clear and concise verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

Skills / Qualifications: 

  • Requires five to ten (3-5) years experience testing software and reporting defects.
  • Prior experience creating test plans of systems and components is a must.
  • Identification, planned communication, efficient information distribution, and managing expectations.
  • Automated test development, ability to troubleshoot automated tests in overnight build pipeline
  • Test development against scrum team work items

Customer Interface Activities: 

  • Uses independent discretion to develop an effective client to customer communication process involving stakeholder.

Project Management / Staff Supervision Tasks:

  • Able to efficiently adapt to new priorities.
    • This includes effectively multitasking project responsibilities with an awareness to support changes as needed.

Work Schedule: 

  • 5/40 
  • The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.

Travel: 

  • 10% - Possibility of domestic travel by automobile, air, etc.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • BS (Computer Science, EE, ME, IE, Physics) with three (3) years of experience required or seven (7) plus years of related experience.

Required Certifications: Technical certs a plus

 

U.S. Citizenship is required

 

Security Clearance:

Candidates must have an active Secret clearance and the eligibility to possibly gain a Top Secret SCI clearance.
