Overview

We are currently seeking a Software Support Test Specialist.  Supports the automated and manual testing of various Tactical Data Link (TDL) processing systems for the purpose of requirements evaluations, Integration Testing, Verification and Validation (V&V), and system certifications. This position requires the employee to support all aspects of system level architecture definition, test planning, execution, and results analysis and will be the system technical expert that will develop new methodologies and procedures for enhancing the integrated software test and evaluation process.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • The ability to execute the duties of the position independently and with limited to no supervision.
  • Knowledge of standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • The ability to use a personal computer and data entry device (keyboard and mouse) on a constant basis.
  • Regular attendance to be performed on company premises or US government facilities during regular business hours.
  • Independently develops complex TDL test architectures to assess system and functional requirements.
  • Installs and configures NGC2P / C2P software for development test and production validation.
  • Subject Matter Expertise for the automated and manual testing of various Tactical Data Link (TDL) processing systems.
  • Inspects / analyzes log files for the validation of software fixes, and proper functionality.
  • Performs setup and operation of required Tactical Data Link (TDL) equipment and support test systems located in SSC-PAC Lab 360 and Lab 120.
  • Acts as a Combat Systems Operations Specialist to stimulate the required functions of the Host Combat System to support during development, integration and acceptance testing. This requires in depth knowledge of the various VABs and submodes of Aegis and/or SSDS/ACDS.
  • Implements root-cause analysis techniques during events which demonstrate logical, deductive reasoning ability, to centralize anomalies and defects and quickly identify the root-cause of TDL issues.
  • Utilizes UNIX scripts, Microsoft Office tools, specialty applications and programs to support testing and evaluation.
  • Performs research, analysis and development of test cases based on Military Standard defined TDL’s (e.g. MIL-STD 6016 and MIL-STD-3011).

Essential Physical Tasks: 

  • Ability to lift 10 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Potential domestic travel 10% of the time by automobile, air, etc.
  • Ability to use a personal computer, keyboard and mouse on a consistent basis.

Written Communications:

  • Operates standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively.
  • Generates required reports which include test status and defect reports. These reports should fully describe and report on the results of an executed event.
  • Demonstrates excellent clear and concise written communication skills.

  • Active communicator - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate. 

Qualifications

Skills / Qualifications: 

6 years of relevant experience with:

  • Naval Tactical Data Link Processor (NGC2P/C2P)
  • Naval Combat Systems, Naval Operations Specialist
  • Specialized Naval Tactical Data Link (TDL) experience required. This includes extensive knowledge of the Aegis and/or SSDS Combat Systems and the various submodes and Variable Action Buttons (VAB) required to operate on Tactical Data Links.
  • Extensive experience with military standards, Operational Specifications and System and Interface documentation required to evaluate NGC2P/C2P functionality.(e.g. MIL-STD 6016, 3011,6011, OS-411, OS-516, IDS, ICD).
  • Ability to identify, and resolve technical, as well as non-technical issues autonomously.
  • Demonstrates advance familiarity with NGC2P / C2P operating system.
  • Experience with computer system networking and interfacing protocols utilized in commercial and/or military communications systems.
  • Experience with the testing and analysis of common Tactical Data Link systems, or software/hardware used in military communications.
  • Experience in the configuration of the Development Lab 120 and the Combined Test Bed (CTB).
  • Knowledge of the military based SATCOM and RF systems (US Navy communications).
  • Knowledge in a variety of bulk encryption devices.
  • Experience to research, analyze and implement test cases based on DoD, and Military Standards, and propriety technology documentation.
  • In-Depth understanding of Ethernet based networking techniques.

Customer Interface Activities: 

  • Suitable inter-personnel and customer service skills to interface with customers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the Customer, SSC-Pacific Center's staff, and peer contractor personnel.

Project Management Tasks:

  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks to ensure optimum productivity.

Work Schedule:     

  • 9/80
  • The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.
  • Willingness to work on site or off site to accomplish the assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work at multiple locations (Corporate Office and SSC-Pacific facilities) during normal working hours.

Minimum Education Requirements:  High School or GED. BS Degree in a relevant Technical Discipline desired.

 

 

Pay Range: $85,000.00 to $95,000.00 annually, DOE

 

U.S. Citizenship is required

 

Security Clearance:

Candidates must have an active clearance OR  the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
