Overview

We are currently seeking DevSecOps Developer to support efforts for the A-department at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division on the Tomahawk Tactical Weapon System. 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Advise on design and implementation of a software & network infrastructure software development environment that deploys physical and virtual machines
  • Evaluate proposed hardware network infrastructure changes across any/all system and network requirements (e.g. deployment, integration, configure, upgrade, patch, physical vs. virtual, etc). Consider the organization’s entire IT infrastructure when making changes and improvements
  • Guide organization in designing, building, testing and deploying changes to existing software
  • Implement cloud development environment such as Amazon Web Service or other virtual hosting services to support software development tools and continuous integration/continuous deployment pipeline.
  • Automate manual processes in regards to software development life cycle
  • Automate software build and test pipeline to support development and distribution of software artifacts
  • Define tools needed for cloud based data repositories and Configuration Management of the Software Development Program.
  • Develop, test, and maintain automated build and test pipelines using Jenkins, Docker, Groovy, SonarQube, and Python, among other tools
  • Create and enhance automated test applications using Java or other languages
  • Communicate and coordinate with development and test team, line management, and other stakeholders

Equipment Used:

  • Laptop Computer and peripheral equipment

Typical Working Conditions:

  • General office environment with USG provided NMCI Computer and peripheral equipment
  • TEA Corporate laptop will be provided at the discretion of Executive Management

Essential Physical Tasks:

  • Ability to lift 10 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Possibility of Domestic travel up to 10% of the time by automobile, air, etc.
  • Ability to use a personal computer, keyboard and mouse on a consistent basis.

Written Communications:

  • Operates standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively with a high degree of competency.
  • Independently generates documentation that presents information in a logical manner.

Verbal Communications:

  • Demonstrates excellent clear and concise verbal communication skills.
  • Active communicator - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate.

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Two (2) to Five (5) Years of relevant experience
  • Experience with all aspects of Software Development Life Cycle (design, development, testing, and implementation)
  • Develop automation code to deploy and maintain systems and applications using Puppet.
  • Experience using Jenkins Automation Framework (or equivalent) to create Continuous Integration (CI) Pipeline
  • Experience with scripting languages such as: Jenkins, Docker, Python, Groovy, Java, Linux, SonarCube are highly valuable

Customer Interface Activities:

  • Uses independent discretion to develop an effective client to customer communication process involving stakeholder identification, planned communication, efficient information distribution, and managing expectations.

Travel <10%

 

Minimum Education Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, EE, ME, IE, Physics or related discipline

  

U.S. Citizenship is required

 

Security Clearance:

 

Candidates must have an active clearance OR  the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
