Overview

 We are currently seeking a Firmware Developer to support Link 16 SSA capabilities at NIWC Pacific. 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Assist with analysis of existing and emerging Operational and Functional requirements to support the current and future systems capabilities and requirements.
  • Assist with Risk Analysis for implementation of program requirements
  • Assist with requirements analysis and modeling (RAM) techniques
  • Collaborates with GVT Software Development Leads to determine programming objectives
  • Develops code that supports the objectives and requirements to provide optimal functionality
  • Edits and improves upon code in existing software programs and applications
  • Ensure code is error-free, readable, efficient, and logically organized for ease of access
  • Operate debugging software and seek out root cause of error in coding sequences
  • Perform detailed, manual checks of code

Typical Working Conditions:

  • General office environment
  • Computer/Equipment lab

Essential Physical Tasks:

  • Ability to lift 10 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Potential domestic travel 10% of the time by automobile, air, etc.
  • Ability to use a personal computer, keyboard and mouse on a consistent basis.

Written Communications:

  • Operates standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively.
  • Proficient in the development of White Papers and Technical Documentation 

Verbal Communications:

  • Demonstrates excellent clear and concise verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications:

Required experience:

  • Development and sustainment of MIDS JTRS Link16 and Operational Environment waveform software.
  • Experience with Quartus, Vivado and Vitis to support VHDL/FPGA
  • Successful results in software development using C++ and Python Programming Language
  • Experience in all phases of military data link integration; testing, requirements analysis, definition, design specifications, integration, system installation, and training for complex military systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • RF fundamentals familiarity

  • RF test tool familiarity

  • Test automation scripting experience

  • Perform Software Development using Object Oriented and C++ programming languages to implement system requirements

Customer Interface Activities:

  • Suitable inter-personnel and customer service skills required to interface with corporate customers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the Customer, NIWC-Pacific Center's staff, and peer contractor personnel.

Project Management / Staff Supervision Tasks:

  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks to ensure optimum productivity
  • Ability to document and track project time lines and milestones

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • High School or GED
  • Bachelor of Science in relevant technical field desired

Pay Range: $80,000.00 to $140,000.00 annually, DOE

 

U.S. Citizenship is required

 

Security Clearance:

Candidates must have an active clearance OR  the ability to obtain a US Government TS/SCI security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active TS/SCI security clearance is highly desirable.
