Overview

We are currently seeking a Test Engineer to support Navy Enterprise Architecture (EA) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) development efforts.  The test engineer will develop technical drawings that document IT architectures and related specifications and requirements for afloat, ashore, and aloft platforms, including interface agreements, and physical and logical SoS architectures.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Develop technical drawings that document IT architectures and related specifications and requirements for afloat, ashore, and aloft platforms, including interface agreements, and physical and logical SoS architectures.
  • Monitor, track and identify risks associated with development and implementation of IT architectures, both external (WAN) and internal (LAN).
  • Monitor and track established SoS interface management control processes and products to document interface standards, controlling parameters, virus protection and data security systems.
  • Monitor, maintain, install, enhance and manage all system (software/hardware/network/configuration and data management) operations and system administration, integration, and data transfer for project tools, and data repositories. Manage and maintain a library of network engineering tools, and corresponding processes that can be used for system testing and diagnosis of network-related system issues.
  • Research analysis of missions, tactics, equipment, interfaces, and resource allocations to new and developing systems and programs. Ensure missions are traceable to Required Operational Capabilities and based on Integration and Interoperability baselines. And provide systems engineering support in analyzing and/or projecting performance of future systems.
  • Develop a roadmap that is forward-looking and provides forecasted IT capability initiatives, systems, and capabilities. In this pursuit, review technical documents, market and publication research, and other artifacts that apply leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts to the development, maintenance, and implementation of network engineering standards, procedures, and guidelines.

Equipment Used:

Generic PC Workstation.

 

Typical Working Conditions:

Essential Physical Tasks:

  • Requires ability to travel domestically 5-15% of the time.
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs on an occasional basis. Ability to use a computer and mouse on a consistent basis.

Written Communications:

  • Operates standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively.
  • Independently generates documentation that presents ideas and/or information in a logical manner. Able to organize the information and use the best methods and/or formats for its delivery.

Verbal Communications:

  • Demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Active communicator – giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate.

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications:

  • ABET Accredited BS Degree from ABET recognized engineering curriculum. Examples include: ME / EE / IE / CSE. OR
  • BS Degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that includes 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. Examples include: Applied Math, Applied Physics, Operational Research, Modeling and Simulation, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Naval Architecture.
  • Six (6) years of experience in Government related R&D, T&E, and systems acquisition programs

Customer Interface Activities:

  • Interfaces with customer and other contractor/civilian/military representatives utilizing clear and effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Supports the briefing of Information Technology strategies, concepts, approaches, training, and status material in various settings.

Project Management / Staff Supervision Tasks:

  • Follows Government, company, or project processes and approval methods. Ability to follow clear established process and team priorities.
  • Contributes to the project team and/or manages a project task.

Work Schedule:   

  • 9/80
  • Able to efficiently adapt to new priorities. This includes effectively multitasking project responsibilities with an awareness to support changes as needed.
  • The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Bachelor of Science in Related Field Desired

Pay Range: $90,000.00 to $135,000.00 annually, DOE

 

U.S. Citizenship is required

 

Security Clearance:

 

Candidates must have an active clearance OR  the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
