Overview

Tactical Engineering & Analysis is actively seeking a Zumwalt Operations Trainer and Subject Matter Expert (SME) having recently served on DDG 1000 or with CRU/DES operational Navy Surface Combat Systems Fleet experience. Highly desired experience with Gun Weapons Systems (GWS), Anti-Ship Missile (ASM) Systems, Tactical Data Links, and Air, Surface and Subsurface Warfare.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Develops; organizes; and conducts Operations training and educational programs for personnel assigned to DDG 1000 Combat Ships.
  • Must be capable of conducting conventional knowledge-based classroom teaching and performance/scenario-based laboratory training.
  • Candidate would serve as a Senior Instructor to train DDG 1000 officers and sailors in tactical employment of the Total Ship Computing Environment (TSCE), and associated weapons systems, system capabilities and limitations, employment of automated systems, mission planning and execution, and tactical communications.
  • When required, the candidate would provide subject matter expertise in support of curriculum development for tactical warfare courses supporting operational employment of Total Ship Computing Environment (TSCE).
  • Must be prepared to support the Surface Force Training Manuel and certification process utilizing shore-based trainer requiring dynamic assessment of watch standers during integrated scenarios.
  • Prepares; reviews; and customizes curriculum lesson plans and instructor guide in support of traditional classroom teaching.
  • Supports Formal Course Reviews and Curriculum Updates; conducts training gap analysis and provides formal feedback / recommendations for Course improvement.
  • Develops; tests; maintains; and delivers moderately complex Navy Combat Systems training programs and related materials in support of SCSTC/PMS339 training objectives.
  • Establishes and reviews course content and objectives.
  • Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.
  • Maintains records of training activities; participant progress; and program effectiveness.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
  • Primary instruction as the Tactical Action officer. Additional trainer support required to act as Warfare Commander in scenario/lab-based training environments.
  • Candidate may be required to support a second shift work schedule as mission requirements dictate.

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Eight (8) years of Experience with the applicable system or process as either a maintenance technician manager or operator manager with responsibility for teaching the applicable system or function task to others in a master level training environment. Relevant experience in the fields of surface, subsurface, integrated air and missile defense, Strike, or C4I is required.
  • Two (2) of the eight years of Experience as an Instructor in a formal Navy individual training environment, to include presentation skills, public speaking skills, curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction and counseling students on academic learning problems.
  • One (1) year of Relevant experience using training systems/simulations for effective and correct presentation of learning objectives.
  • Preferred Skills: Experience as a qualified TAO/BMDO and/or a Master/Afloat Training Specialist in support of SCSTC/TACTRAGRU/ATG is a significant plus. 
  • Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing. 

 

Work Schedule:

  • STD/40
  • Work is typically a 0700-1600 day with the occasional evening shift to support class instruction.

Travel: Less than 15 %


Minimum Education Requirements: High School Education or GED

 

Pay Range: $80,000.00 to $100,000.00 annually, DOE

 

U.S. Citizenship is required

 

Security Clearance:

Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
