The selected candidate will provide use independent discretion to support the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of Navy LOS & BLOS external communications systems both in a lab environment and at ships, sites, aircraft, and various other installations. The selected candidate will assist in the planning, execution and reporting of various testing of LOS & BLOS external communications systems.
Essential Functions/Job Duties:
Intermediate knowledge and experience with U.S. Military Tactical Data Link Systems, Radio Frequency (RF) Line-of-Sight Communication Systems, and beyond Line-of-Sight Communication Systems and associated interfaces, computer control, and in-line and/or embedded encryption equipment.
Provides software and hardware engineering, Integrated Product Team (IPT) support, participating in meetings/working groups, and providing technical subject matter expertise to technical analysis/papers and briefings for Link-16 data terminals to include Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) Low Volume Terminal (LVT), MIDS Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS), and Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS) terminal sets.
Provide set-up, activation, operation, and troubleshooting support for Navy LOS & BLOS external communications systems including: HF & UHF secure/unsecure voice, HF/UHF Secure Data, TDL, and other operational communications systems supported during U.S. Navy operations.
Provides technical expertise for the planning/coordination working groups and day to day operations on Multicast TDL J, Unicast TDL J, Satellite TDL J, Link 16, and Link 11 Test & Evaluation (T&E) and development efforts.
Written Communications: Operates standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively with a high degree of competency. Independently generates documentation that presents information in a logical manner.
Verbal Communications: Demonstrates excellent clear and concise verbal communication skills.
7 years experience with Navy Line of Sight (LOS) and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) external voice and data communications systems including those operating within the Medium/High Frequency (MF/HF), Very High Frequency (VHF), Ultra High Frequency (UHF), Extremely High Frequency (EHF), and Super High Frequency (SHF) to include systems/equipment.
Experience in the installation, troubleshooting, and System Operataion Verification Test (SOVT) of Tactical Data Link terminals to include MIDS LVT, MIDS JTRS, and JTIDS.
Customer Interface Activities: Ability to effectively communicate with the Customer, NIWC Pacific Center's staff, and peer contractor personnel

Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
