We are currently seeking a candidate who will be responsible for providing test and engineering support to the Combat Systems Simulation Development (CSSD) team for the testing and Verification and Validation (V&V) of the simulation systems used in support of Aegis Land Based test Sites (LBTS). This project directly supports the Naval Surface Weapons Center Dahlgren Division, (NSWCDD) Dahlgren VA.
Essential Functions/Job Duties:
Supports testing and verification of the Aegis Simulation systems, to include the following:
Independently set up and operate the following Simulation Systems- Common Connectivity Device (CCD), Aegis Simulation Test and Training Systems (A-STATS), Next generation Simulation (NGS), Universal Message Generator (UMG), Multiple Link System Test Training Tool (MLST3)
Provide subject matter experts with critical and essential knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with the production, assembly, test, and delivery of combat system interface simulation systems, test systems, simulation supported training systems and analysis systems.
Ability to independently operate various Aegis Baselines as the Tactical Information Coordinator and ID Operator. Baseline includes AWS 7.1, AWS 6.3, AWS 5.3.9, AWS 8.1, BMD 3.6.X, BMD 4.X, BMD 5.X, and AWS 9 A/C.
Ability to generate and independently execute test procedures without supervision.
Ability to independently perform analysis of test results, producing final test reports without supervision.
Ability to independently provide operational support for post-activation trouble report resolution activities without supervision. These activities include:
Providing system problem isolation/detection and resolution activities.
Identifying specific system components that require replacement, upgrades, or re-engineering to support new capabilities.
Equipment Used: Tools, both manual and automated. Computer equipment and Naval Combat Systems (CS), communication equipment and networking equipment.
Typical Working Conditions: General office environment; computer/equipment laboratory.
Essential Physical Tasks: The ability to use a personal computer and data entry device (keyboard and mouse) on a constant basis. Operate standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively.
Written and Verbal Communications: Solid writing skills and the ability to develop test plans, procedures and technical reports. Generate test reports, Test Observation Reports (TORs), and associated documentation of analysis results. Provides required weekly and monthly written status reports to TEA Project Lead (PL). Attends meetings in which responsible for presenting material and giving briefs to wide government audience. Discuss test observation reports directly with the developer on anomalies found during test events.
Skills / Qualifications:
4 years general combat system experience working with Aegis
4 years specific experience working with the following simulation devices- CCD and A-STATS/NGS.
Working knowledge of Naval CS.
Customer Interface Activities: Directly interfaces with the government customer on simulation tool topics. Directly interfaces and coordinates with various government organizations in executing duties as the Aegis simulation test and verification specialist.
Project Management Tasks: The ability to execute the duties of the position independently and with limited to no supervision.
Work Schedule: The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.
Regular attendance to be performed on company premises or US government facilities during regular business hours.
Travel: domestic travel up to 10% of the time by automobile, air, etc.
Minimum Education Requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent
U.S. Citizenship is required
Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
