    Overview

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions/Job Duties:

    • Knowledgeable of computer hardware/software and peripherals to include installation of hardware
    components and software.

    • Conduct research and performs trade studies to support selection of highly complex COTS hardware

    • Leads design and research & development (R&D) activities.

    • Familiarity with complex multi-layered system design, schematic, and layout.

    • Create and maintain hardware documentation, including detailed engineering specifications, feasibility
    studies (e.g. Analysis of Alternatives), and preliminary trials (e.g. proof-of-concepts). Evaluates design,
    interfaces with technical support personnel, drafters, writers and engineering technicians as required.

    • Verify and validate hardware designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and
    customer requirements: Reliability, Maintainability and Availability (RMA) analysis. Assists with
    analysis and selection of optimal components to meet or exceed desired performance, functionality, and
    reliability criteria, while ensuring cost targets are met.

    • Provides assistance for hardware conformity and compatibility tests as needed.


     

    Equipment Used: Laptop Computer and peripheral equipment

     

    Typical Working Conditions: General office environment; Computer/Equipment lab; Non-hostile

     

    Essential Physical Tasks: Ability to lift 10 lbs. on an occasional basis. Ability to use a personal computer, keyboard and mouse on a consistent basis.

     

    Written Communications: Operates standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively with a high degree of competency. Independently generates documentation that presents information in a logical manner.

     

    Verbal Communications: Demonstrates excellent clear and concise verbal communication skills.
    Active communicator - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand
    the points being made, asking questions as appropriate.

    Qualifications

    Skills / Qualifications:

    Requires 11-15 years experience software engineering or hardware development and/or design.
    Experience with Navy C4I architectures, hardware design and various communications protocols
    such as Link-16, Link-11, STJ, and JREAP-C.
    Bachelors Degree in an Engineering, Science, Computer Science, or Related Scientific or Technical
    Discipline, or equivalent and 11+ years of relevant experience
    Design and research & development (R&D) activities experience.

     

    Customer Interface Activities: Uses independent discretion to develop an effective client to customer communication process, involving stakeholder identification, planned communication, efficient information distribution, and managing expectations. 

     

    Project Management Tasks: Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS) has sole responsibility for providing consultation to USG
    customers/sponsors effectively directly supporting business development areas and strengthening
    customer relations.

     

    Work Schedule: 9/80 The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.

     

    Travel: Possibility of domestic travel up to 10% of the time by automobile, air, etc.

     

    Minimum Education Requirements: BS (EE) - Electric Engineering Degree desired or equivalent and 11+ years of relevant experience

     

    Required Certifications:


     

    U.S. Citizenship is required

     

    Security Clearance:

    Candidates must have an active clearance OR  the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
