    We are currently seeking a candidate to perform simulation systems operation and expertise during Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Ground Test events in the SSC PAC Combined Test Bed (CTB) San Diego laboratory. Candidate will independently provide pre-test planning, simulation system configuration, set-up and operation of the Next Generation Simulation (NGS) system as part of an integrated test team. Candidate will perform system problem detection, identification and resolution activities as well as perform routine, and non-routine maintenance to ensure operational availability and test execution readiness.


    Essential Functions/Job Duties:


    As part of an integrated watch team, provide simulation systems operation and expertise during Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Ground Test events in the SSC PAC Combined Test Bed (CTB) San Diego laboratory.

    Conducts installation & checkout activities in support of software updates, and provides local operations support during test events.

    Independently provides pre-test planning, configures, sets-up and operates the Next Generation Simulation (NGS) system. Ability to perform system problem detection, identification and resolution activities. Analyzes and documents test results for combat system wrap around simulations.


    Provides all required hardware/software installations as directed, and maintains simulation systems operational availability by ensuring routine, and non-routine maintenance is performed.  Conducts software installation and checkout, to include verification of system configurations files and basic Network/Hardware maintenance/troubleshooting of computer systems.

    Ability to follow test procedures and/or work off script based on direction from Test Director.  Maintains records of operation activities on the assigned simulation systems including test schedules, test logs, test reports and problem reports.


    Provides documentation of all testing issues and problems specific to simulation system performance. Ability to perform analysis of test results, generate Trouble Reports (TRs) and/or Test Observation Reports (TORs).  Maintains configuration management and record of all approved Software Change Requests (SCRs). Attends and supports system/element level test readiness reviews.


    Prepares and executes system/element level test plans and procedures and coordinates integrated testing activities.



    Equipment Used:


    Standard computer equipment and Naval Combat Systems, Simulation Stimulation (SIM/STIM) systems.


    Typical Working Conditions:


    General office environment; computer/equipment lab.


    Essential Physical Tasks:


    The ability to use a personal computer and data entry device (keyboard and mouse) on a consistent basis. Ability to lift 10 lbs. on an occasional basis. Potential domestic travel 10% of the time by automobile, air, etc.


    Written Communications:


    Possesses solid writing skills and the ability to develop mid-level informational briefs, Test Observation Reports (TORs), and lessons learned as required. Provides technical status, project updates and issue identification input to Monthly Status Reports (MSR).


    Verbal Communications:


    Demonstrates excellent, clear, and concise verbal communication skills. Active communicator, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate. 




    Six years general combat system experience. 

    Four years specific experience in conducting detailed, complex system engineering activities associated with Enterprise level combat system simulations in the context of Aegis/Aegis BMD Combat Systems, BMD Ground Testing, and Combined IAMD and ASW Trainer (CIAT).


    Customer Interface Activities:


    Supports the Government customer during technical discussions, forums, and other program activities. Directly interfaces and coordinates with various Government and/or Prime contractor organizations during test events.

    Minimum Education Requirements:
      HS Diploma 



    U.S. Citizenship is required


    Security Clearance:


    Candidates must have an active clearance OR  the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
