As a Senior Network Engineer you will serve as a critical member of the test and development team for the SSC Pacific Development, Integration, and Certification Environment (DICE) USS Secure program where you will be responsible for various aspects of the systems of systems life cycle. Primarily, you will act as a liaison between stakeholders, test and development teams where you will analyze customer needs, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop more in depth network design documents and illustrations. You will also assist customers in validating requirements, advising them of alternative approaches, and conduct feasibility studies when necessary. You may also be required to lead design, test and development activities. Additionally, you will be responsible for guiding system test bed development and implementation through the preparation of engineering and system integration and test plans.
Essential Functions/Job Duties:
Document current network design and develop procedures for establishing baseline network configurations.
Develops documentation and illustrations to document the current network design as it applies to the USS Secure Program.
Configure labs routers and switches to support testing of various program requirements.
Support testing in the test labs and troubleshoots network connectivity issues that may be presented during testing.
Ensure the function, performance, suitability, and availability of the communication systems tested at DICE facilities.
Manage and monitor installed systems and infrastructure.
Install, configure, test and maintain new network and routing systems, associated application software and system management tools.
Develop installation, test and integration plans and procedures.
Integrate and test client and server application HW and SW.
Ensure systems and infrastructure suitability and availability.
Equipment Used: CANES, ISNS, ADNS, Routers, and Switches
Typical Working Conditions: General office environment; Computer/Equipment lab; US Naval Ship (Non-Hostile); non-hazardous.
Essential Physical Tasks: Potential domestic travel 10% of the time by automobile, air, etc. Possibility of occasional international travel and travel on Navy ships. Ability to lift 10 lbs. on an occasional basis. Ability to use a personal computer, keyboard and mouse on a consistent basis
Written Communications: Effective operational knowledge of standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel). Proficient in the reading, writing and comprehension of technical documentation and manuals.
Verbal Communications: Demonstrates excellent clear and concise verbal communication skills.
Skills / Qualifications: 10 years of relevant experience to include WAN/LAN Network Architectures
Military Network Systems ISNS, ADNS, CANES
10 Years experience with CISCO Routing and Switching
10 Years experience Juniper Routing and Switching desired
10 Years experience with Layer 2 Tunneling
10 Years experience in establishing connections to GVT Service Provider Networks
10 Years experience working with KG175 Series encryption devices desired
Customer Interface Activities: Interfaces with customer and other contractor/civilian/military representatives utilizing clear and effective written and oral communication skills. Provides input for consolidated Monthly Status Reports (MSR).
Project Management Tasks: Ability to manage and prioritize tasks to ensure optimum productivity.
Work Schedule: 9/80 - The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.
Minimum Education Requirements: High School diploma or GED. Bachelors Degree desired in a relevant technical discipline.
Required Certifications: Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2; Comp TIA Security +; CCNA, CCNP desired
U.S. Citizenship is required
Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
