    Overview

    As a Model-Based Software Engineering you will serve as a key member of the Command and Control (C2P) Software Modernization effort.   The Model-Based Software Engineer with a strong software technical background will develop, validate, and maintain models of complex systems using modeling tools and languages such as SysML, UML, etc. as well as assist customers in applying various modeling and software design approaches and techniques toward project success.

     

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions/Job Duties:

    Develop executable architectures and process in order to provide informed recommendations on technical and engineering matters using Model-Based Systems Engineering tools and activities.

    Document the system and software design using Unified Modeling Language (UML) and modify existing sequence diagrams and models to support new program requirements.

    Apply skills and adaptability in various areas that may include resolution of software systems issues. Support may include software development; life-cycle guidance; software consulting; software architectures; enterprise systems; and other related areas.

    Provide technology recommendations, risk assessments, trade studies, and analyses

    Provide expertise at technical interchange meetings, reviews, and briefings to customer and internal team personnel.

    Ensure that all data collected by the program can be archived in a standard format and made available to any larger effort.

    Identify risks and functional areas affected when new capabilities or software fixes are applied to the program.

     

    Equipment Used: Personal Computer (PC) based systems and project related test equipment. Knowledge of standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel.

     

    Typical Working Conditions: General office environment; Computer/Equipment lab; Non-hostile. 

     

    Essential Physical Tasks: Ability to lift 10 lbs. on an occasional basis. The ability to use a personal computer and data entry device (keyboard and mouse) on a constant basis.

     

    Written Communications: Operates standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively. Generates and presents technical briefs, white papers, trade studies, and design notes.

     

    Verbal Communications: Demonstrates excellent clear and concise verbal communication skills. Ability to lead discussions pertaining to technical subject matter.

    Qualifications

    Skills / Qualifications: 

    10 or more years of experience with Software UML Modeling

     

    Customer Interface Activities: 

    Suitable inter-personnel and customer service skills required to interface with corporate customers.

    Ability to effectively communicate with the Customer, SSC-Pacific Center's staff, and peer contractor personnel.

     

    Project Management Tasks: The ability to execute the duties of the position independently and with limited to no supervision. Ability to manage and prioritize tasks to ensure optimum productivity.

     

    Work Schedule:  Regular attendance to be performed on company premises or US government facilities during regular business hours.  The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.

     

    Travel: Potential domestic travel

     

    Minimum Education Requirements: BS in a relevant engineering technical discipline

                         

     U.S. Citizenship is required

     

    Security Clearance:

    Candidates must have an active clearance OR  the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
