We are currently seeking a candidate directly supports the Naval Surface Weapons Center Dahlgren Division, (NSWCDD) Dahlgren VA. Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS). Candidate will be responsible for providing engineering specialist support to the Engineering and Activation Services (EAS) team for the installation and activation of land based laboratories.
Essential Functions/Job Duties:
Supporting installation and activation of the lab, to include the following:
Independently installing and configuring Computer and Network Systems
Integrating Combat System Equipment for Aegis Weapons System (AWS) into the Land Based Test Site
Configuring and integrating the software and networking for AWS Consoles into the AWS
Provides technical comments and inputs to Configuration Definition Documents
Ability to independently provide operational support for post-activation trouble report resolution activities without supervision.
These activities include:
Providing system problem isolation/detection and resolution activities.
Identifying specific system components that require replacement, upgrades, or re-engineering to support new capabilities.
Assisting in development of site modernization plans
Participating in formal and informal system Engineering Design Reviews
Assisting in the identification and procurement of installation materials, which include cables, computer equipment, and associated hardware.
Equipment Used: Tools, both manual and automated. Computer equipment and Naval Combat Systems, Communication equipment and Networking equipment.
Typical Working Conditions: General office environment; Computer/Equipment lab, Laboratory.
Essential Physical Tasks: Must have the ability to lift heavy equipment up to 50LBS above shoulders such as cabling, monitors and computer equipment.
During activation will be required to move equipment, run cables both under decking and overhead. Requires stooping, standing, holding heavy objects above the head for extended periods of time.
Written and Verbal Communications:
Effective written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
Solid writing skills and the ability to develop technical reports and Standard Operating Procedures.
Provides required weekly and monthly written status reports to Project Manager.
Attends meetings in which responsible for presenting material and giving briefs to wide government audience.
Skills / Qualifications: 2 years experience of general in Navy combat system engineering.
Knowledge to operate standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively.The ability to use a personal computer and data entry device (keyboard and mouse) on a constant basis.
Customer Interface Activities:
Directly interfaces with the government customer on CSCS Laboratory topics. Directly interfaces and coordinates with various government organizations in executing duties as the EAS specialist.
Project Management / Staff Supervision Tasks: Ability to generate and independently execute test procedures without supervision. Ability to independently perform analysis of test results, producing final test reports without supervision.
Work Schedule: 5/40
Regular attendance to be performed on company premises or US government facilities during regular business hours.
The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.
Minimum Education Requirements: High School diploma or GED. BS desired in a relevant technical discipline
Demonstrate the desire to increase technical knowledge, pursue further formal education through seminar attendance, discipline specific courses, and/or higher education.
U.S. Citizenship is required
Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
