We are currently seeking a Linux/Unix System Administrator to support the Space and Naval Warfare (SPAWAR) System Center Pacific (SSC-PAC), Next Generation Command and Control Processor (NGC2P)/Common and Control Processor (C2P) Software Support Activity (SSA).


Provides Subject Matter Expertise to perform, maintain and provide Unix system administration for Command and Control Processor (C2P) development suite. Duties include systems patching, performance monitoring, and back-up library maintenance. This position includes system administration on the HP-UX 10.2/11 C2P development servers and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.X components.




Essential Functions/Job Duties:


Performs analysis on system logs to identify potential issues with computer systems.
Performs routine audits of systems and software, supporting the NGC2P Program
Performs periodic backups of NGC2P Program Development systems
Applies operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
Independently Installs and configures new hardware and software.
Performs general system administration with no oversight to include, but not limited to the adding/removing user accounts and the resetting passwords.
Provides direct independent  technical support on all aspects of Internet and Intra-net infrastructures with customers.
Documents the configuration of the system and maintains the security of the system

Develops POA&Ms to support program Information Assurance requirements

Performs STIGS for program systems

Performs independent identification and resolution of system problems.

Documents and implements system performance tuning for all Software Support Activity (SSA) development systems.

Executes impromptu customer requests for technical information related to UNIX operating systems

Assists with troubleshooting Windows and UNIX/Linux Platform technical issues, administrative issues, and bug fixes.

Modifies and or creates web-pages using ASPX, MSSQL, JQuery, CSS and HTML technologies.



10 years experience in System Administration, Mid-Level UNIX server support with emphasis  in server configuration.

Competent with all windows operating systems and windows based products

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.X components.

Experienced in BASH and SHELL scripting, SED, AWK. 

Experienced in database deployment; MS SQL, MySQL, MARIA DB

Experienced in website deployment and Web Servers: Apache, IIS

Ability to identify, and resolve technical, as well as non-technical issues autonomously.
System Administration, Mid-Level UNIX server support with emphasis in development and server configuration.

Experience with PKI desired


Minimum Education Requirements: High School or GED equivalent.  BS in a relevant technical discipline desired.


Certifications: IAT Level II, Security Plus


Written/Verbal Communications: Operates standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively. Demonstrates excellent clear and concise verbal communication skills. 


Customer Interface Activities:  Suitable inter-personnel and customer service skills required to interface with corporate customers.
Ability to effectively communicate with the Customer, SSC-Pacific Center's staff, and peer contractor personnel.


Project Management: Ability to manage and prioritize tasks to ensure optimum productivity.


Work Schedule:   9/80  The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.
Willingness to work on site or off site to accomplish the assigned tasks.


Travel: < 15% local


U.S. Citizenship is required


Security Clearance: Candidates must have the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security
background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access
to various levels of classified information may also be required.
