Overview

Position Overview: We are currently seeking a Sr Software Engineer with 10 plus years of experience developing and maintaining software in various commercial and specialized military programing languages.  You should have extensive experience with VxWorks, UNIX - AT&T System V, UNIX - HP-UX and UNIX - Sun Solaris Operating System environments. 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Supporting customer software and prototype development projects.  Duties include creating new software projects, bug fixing, adding features, building releases, creating release media and documenting releases.Systems administration duties include monitoring backups and general account creation and maintenance of basic services.
  • Creating and modifying computer programs by converting project requirements into software code (specifically CMS-2Y).
  • Confirming project requirement's by reviewing program objective, input data, and output requirements with analyst, supervisor, and client.
  • Independently arranging project requirements in programming sequence by analyzing requirements; preparing work flow charts and diagrams using knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, programming language, and logic.
  • Independently encoding project requirements by converting work flow information into computer language, and programing the computer by entering coded information.
  • Confirming program operation by conducting tests; modifying program sequence and/or codes.
  • Maintaining historical records by documenting program development and revisions and maintains client confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Under leadership, will independently designs and developments software and system applications needed to support the execution of test and analysis requirements for company wide projects.
  • Maintaining software and applications by adjudicating bug reports and conducting the code analysis and software fixes to resolve reported software defects.
  • Collaborating with development team to maintain existing code bases of software and applications.
  • Designing and integrating new technologies into the existing program infrastructure by collaborating with customer.
  • Assisting with the configuration of lab hardware architectures and fault isolation for test and integration events.

 

Non-Technical Administrative Duties:

  • Independently submits company Expense Reports and Travel Claims to include all associated documentation in accordance with company policies on a timely basis. 
  • Records and submits accurate and timely records of time worked, and associated leaves via the company electronic time entry system.
  • Ensures an accurate and detailed resume is provided to the project supervisor on an annual basis with performance reviews.
  • Maintains general company and customer correspondence/memorandum using common office suite software. 

 

Skills / Qualifications: 

  • High degree of competency in legacy CMS-2Y and ULTRA 32 programming languages.
  • ADA programming experience desirable.
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in the following Operating System environments:
    • VxWorks, UNIX - AT&T System V, UNIX - HP-UX, UNIX - Sun Solaris.
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) working on the following hardware platforms:
    • AN/UYK-43, AN/UYK-44, DEC MicroVAX 3000, SUN Sparc Station.
  • Command and Control / TDL application and knowledge of MIL-STD 6016/6011 experience highly desirable (i.e. ADSI/C2P).
  • Knowledge of related Prototype software structures and system processors and the underlying programing languages and integrated software structures.

 

 

Equipment Used:

Computer/Equipment lab, various electronic test equipment.

Effective working knowledge of standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to MicroSoft Word and Excel.

 

Typical Working Conditions:

General office environment; Computer/Equipment lab

 

Regular attendance to be performed on US government facilities.

 

Essential Physical Tasks:

Ability to lift 10 lbs. on an occasional basis.

 

Ability to use a personal computer, keyboard and mouse on a consistent basis.

 

Written and Verbal Communications:

Effective written and verbal communication skills in the English language.

 

Demonstrates excellent clear and concise verbal communication skills.

 

 

Qualifications

Customer Interface Activities:

Suitable inter-personnel and customer service skills required to interface with corporate customers.

 

Ability to effectively communicate with the Customer, SSC-Pacific Center's staff, and peer contractor personnel.

 

Project Management / Staff Supervision Tasks:

The ability to execute the duties of the position independently and with no supervision.

Ability to establish priorities, operate independently, and execute tasking with no supervision; to manage and prioritize tasks to ensure optimum productivity.

Able to complete all tasks in a timely manner within established time frames.

Works together alongside teammates to promote a positive and productive work environment.

Must demonstrate self-motivation through initiative, and proactive behaviors with little supervisory input

 

Work Schedule: 

The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.

Willingness to work on site or off site to accomplish the assigned tasks.

 

 

Travel:

Potential domestic travel 10% of the time by automobile, air, etc.

 

Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in a relevant Technical Discipline (CS, EE, CE) 

 

Demonstrates the desire to increase technical knowledge, pursue further formal education through seminar attendance, discipline specific courses, and/or higher education.

 

 

 

U.S. Citizenship is required

 

Security Clearance:

Candidates must have an active clearance OR  the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance, and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
